Water levels in California rivers are at historic highs due to a record-breaking winter snowfall. One of these rivers, the Kings River in the San Joaquin Valley, filters water from the Sierra Nevada mountains and is currently a sight to behold. Exploring the higher elevation of this river, I was stunned by the height and massive power of the river in front of me. Areas where I camped in previous years have been overtaken by a turbulent river. Amazing circumstances in a beautiful location.
It’s a unique beauty, one I captured as the sun was getting low in the sky, highlighting parts of the canyon wall and wildflowers with the fading light.
