There are few things more amazing than watching a storm roll in while sitting by a mountain lake. It wasn’t long before I found myself surrounded by ominous clouds and the distant rumble of thunder. Using the last of the quickly fading light, I photographed the magnificent scene in front of me: TJ Lake, the calm before the storm.
Suddenly a sharp crack, followed by a colossal boom. Purely by luck, on my last exposure, I captured lightning striking Mammoth Mountain. Thinking I had used my luck for the day, I packed up gear and began my wet and rainy hike back to camp.
