Captured just before sunrise on Rush Creek near June Lake in the Eastern Sierras. This golden aspen tree acted as a beacon through the mist.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes as I walked along the creek. I was amazed to see this glowing aspen tree about 200 yards up stream. All the elements where perfect- below freezing temperatures created an alluring mist off the water. Clear skies from above the mist reflected off the golden aspen leaves highlighting its colors and beauty, turning it into a beacon of gold. But Mother Nature wasn’t finished yet. High winds periodically howled through the valley, filling the creek with aspen leaves from the surrounding trees.” – Cheyne Walls
