This is how one G2 Gallery patron responded to her first sighting of Cheyne Walls’ Yosemite Valley, an Ansel Adams-esque black and white photograph.
She is not alone. Not only did she and another hundred or so people attending The G2 Gallery Reception for Cheyne Walls’ Miles from Los Angeles on August 12th find the photograph breathtaking, so did one of the most prestigious photography contests in the world. The Memorial Maria Luisa International Mountain and Nature Photography Contest in Spain awarded Yosemite Valley first place in its 28th edition in the landscape category.
You really owe it to yourself to visit The G2 Gallery to see this remarkable limited edition photograph for yourself. The exhibit runs until October 8, 2017. The G2 Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Private viewings are available by appointment on Monday.
Better yet, RSVP for the free Artist Talk on September 14th to hear Cheyne Walls share his experience in the making of the Yosemite Valley photograph – as well as his many other, equally amazing, photographs.
Miles from Los Angeles features panoramic shots of the western United States, from Washington to Colorado to Hawaii, and showcases photographs from Cheyne’s recently published homonymous book (which can be purchased at The G2 Gallery Store). The exhibit celebrates nature in beautifully captured awe-inspiring vistas unique to the West, boasting some of the most diverse landscapes, all within miles from Los Angeles.
Photographs include the world’s largest trees in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, to the lowest elevation point in the Western Hemisphere in Death Valley National Park, to lava-covered landscapes on Hawaii’s shores; there is no shortage of inspiration for Cheyne. At the end of each adventurous trip, Cheyne feels fortunate returning to Los Angeles, knowing his next amazing destination isn’t far away. By sharing these astonishing photographs, Cheyne hopes to inspire fellow Los Angelenos to explore our great outdoors. For him, the best reward is when his images inspire someone to re-discover nature and visit the locations he captured in his photography.
