This is an ongoing Fine Art Photography Collection of the Hawaiian Islands. Each year Cheyne will be releasing a series of photographs from each unique Island.
The first series of photographs from the new Island Collection is being unveiled throughout the next few months at Cheyne’s fine art studio in Laguna Beach CA. This series will contain only 20 limited edition photographs from the beautiful Hawaiian Islands Kauai and Maui. Unveiled to open the collection was “Pacific Ocean Temple” on December 6th 2014.
“Pacific Ocean Temple” (above) was captured on the Island of Kauai along the stunning Na Pali Coastline. Well accustomed to this island I wanted to photograph this coastline from a helicopter to really show its true and unique magnificence. In continuous two-way radio contact with the pilot we arrived at the shooting location and hovered just off shore over the Pacific Ocean waiting for that perfect light. I didn’t have to wait long before Mother Nature parted the clouds to the West giving a dramatic sweeping light along the edge of the cliffs. Fighting the gusts from the rotating helicopter blades I steadied myself just in time to capture an emerging rainbow atop the cliffs. As quickly as it came it was gone, the clouds re-engulfed the coastline and the rain began to fall.
“Island Sanctuary” from the Island of Kauai – The magnificent Na Pali Coastline is one of the most epic places in the world. Weather by land, sea or air it displays the amazing beauty and uniqueness that is the Hawaiian Islands.

I was lucky enough on my recent travels in Kauai to spend and day with two rescue dogs, Jelly & Talia. We all went on long hike along the Western coast of Kauai and enjoyed some time relaxing on a little hidden beach, truly an amazing day that I will never forget.
A great organization! For more information on the Kauai Humane Society visit their website : http://kauaihumane.org/
